Who publishes eatrightPREP®?
eatrightPREP® is developed and published by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Who writes the questions in eatrightPREP®?
Questions are created by current RDNs with test item-writing training. All questions are reviewed by the eatrightPREP® Board of Editors and the Editor-in-Chief, Tonya Krueger, MA, RDN, LD.
Are there exam prep resources within the eatrightPREP® courses?
The Resources section includes a page with links to suggested supplemental materials, including links to Academy, association, and government publications. We strongly recommend reviewing these resources prior to taking the practice and simulated tests and referring to these materials while studying for the registration exam.
How often can a student or intern take the practice and simulated tests?
Subscribers can reset and retake the practice and simulated tests as many times as they would like within their subscription period.
How is improvement tracked?
Students/interns have access to their complete performance statistics for each practice and simulated test and all the pretest questions. These statistics are available once a test is completed. Both instructors and students/interns can view progress reports to track improvement over time.
Educators/instructors can work with students and interns to review performance in each domain. eatrightPREP® tests help to identify topics where a student’s/intern’s performance is strong and where further study may be beneficial.
Is there tech support available for eatrightPREP®?

What are some suggestions for how educators/instructors can use eatrightPREP® in their dietetic internship program or class curriculum?
- Assign pretest questions or practice tests to be completed as homework assignments.
- View historical reports of course engagement, which log when work was completed.
- Ask students/interns to create an action plan for studying for the registration exam based on their performance in the course. eatrightPREP® will identify the domains where they are performing well or need improvement, so students/interns can plan how they will review the topics that need improvement.
- Challenge students and interns to complete one practice test and one simulated test. Or, challenge them to complete all tests during their final semester!
- Encourage students and interns to submit the questions they answered incorrectly to the program director to improve internship or course experiences for next year’s cohort.
- Encourage students and interns to watch how their knowledge progresses over time by assigning them to complete the eatrightPREP® course as graduation nears. After taking an initial practice test, they will complete pretest questions to improve their knowledge. At the course’s mid-point, assign another practice test. A final set of prstest questions will be reviewed, and then a final exam!
- Create a private discussion group on eatrightPREP® and invite your students to ask questions about the dietetics topics they found most challenging in the practice and simulated tests.
Are there any options for customizing the features in eatrightPREP®?
Yes, customization of the eatrightPREP® experience is possible, particularly with pretest question engagement and simulated tests.
Pretest Questions
All courses feature pretest questions that can be set to Custom Practice or Category Practice, depending on preference. Category Practice presents randomized pretest questions by domain, but the Custom Practice feature offers multiple options for engaging with Pretest Questions, such as the following:
- Answering questions not yet completed
- Focusing on questions that were initially answered incorrectly
- Selecting a specific number of questions per domain category
- Setting a timer for a preferred span of time
- Choosing whether to display answers to pretest questions immediately or after the study session is complete
Simulated Tests
Both basic and + ExamSim subscription types offer simulated tests where students/interns can practice taking online tests on dietetics concepts set to a 3-hour timer (the same time allowed for the actual RD and DTR Exams). However, the + ExamSim subscriptions take this practice to the next level with an overlay that provides a realistic exam-day interface like the exams administered at Pearson VUE testing centers. Can subscribers upgrade their basic eatrightPREP® subscription to the +ExamSim course in the middle of a subscription period?
Switching courses mid-subscription will result in loss of performance data. It is recommended that students remain enrolled in the course initially purchased unless they accept this loss of course progress and performance data.

Can students who purchase an individual subscription to eatrightPREP® get a refund?
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Customers wishing to withdraw from the course and receive a refund should send an e-mail request to
eatrightPREP@eatright.org.
Our staff will review the subscriber’s activity to determine how much of the course has been used and then decide how much can be refunded.
Does using eatrightPREP® guarantee that I will pass the Registration Exam for Dietitians?
The Academy makes no claim that purchasing eatrightPREP® guarantees success in passing the Registration Examination for RDs or DTRs. However, because the simulated tests provide practice opportunities for the online test-taking environment, it is a very useful tool in preparing you for taking the registration exam.
What are the technical specifications for using eatrightPREP®?
For best results in saving your course progress, it is recommended that you use only one device and one browser to complete your tests. Chrome is the recommended browser for eatrightPREP®. Note: This platform is not compatible with Internet Explorer.
May I copy information from the eatrightPREP® courses?
The content of eatrightPREP® for the RDN exam and eatrightPREP® for the NDTR Exam is copyrighted material. No part of the materials in the review course may be copied, downloaded, reproduced, stored, disseminated, transferred, or used in any form by any means without prior written consent of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
May I share my access to eatrightPREP® with other individuals?
Access is for a single user only and is not to be shared under any circumstances.
